Before the session takes place, complete the Excel form found on the “Forms” link or we can send you the financial forms to complete.   This will give us a picture of your current financial situation (income, equity, budget, and debts).  Once we have reviewed your situation, we will call you to set up a time to meet.

What should I expect at the initial counseling session?
During the initial counseling session, which will last between 2 and 3 hours, we will go over, in detail, your financial situation, asking you questions that will clarify your current details and will aid in formulating your financial plans.  For most clients, this includes a plan for spending your income on paper to meet your goals, suggesting ways to cut costs and developing a plan to get out of debt.  Since each session is tailored to the client's specific needs, we will spend our time discussing topics specific to your situation.

Based upon the items discussed and agreed upon in our session, together, we will come up with a written set of action items for you to complete.

I'm married.  Can I attend the counseling session without my spouse?
In order for us to get the clearest picture of your current financial situation, both husband and wife must to attend the counseling sessions.  Our experience has shown us that unless both spouses are committed to doing what it takes to win with money, our counseling will have limited success.  We have made exceptions due to unique situations.

What if I cannot afford financial counseling?
This is a legitimate question.  If your financial situation is such that you feel you can't afford the counseling fee to learn how to become debt-free and build wealth, then you desperately need to book an appointment with BDF Financial Counseling.  You can't afford not to!

Financial counseling is truly an investment in your future.  Through the counseling process, you are given tools that will help you save money and get out of debt.  You will be able to see a solid return on your investment in just four months or less.

We have found through experience that people not willing to make the small sacrifice necessary to begin financial counseling are likely not willing to put forth the effort needed to improve their financial situation.
