Dillon is a funloving, sensible, people-oriented guy. He finished his AKC conformation championship under a breeder-judge, and won Best of Breed his only 2 times shown as a Special. He is currently working on his Masters titles in USDAA agility and his FAST titles in AKC. He also qualifed for the USDAA Steeplechase once, in local Grand Prix competitions twice, and in a DAM tournament. He easily earned his AKC PT in herding, despite the hot weather causing us to only work stock 3 times in the 6 months prior to the trials, and shortly thereafter earned his AHBA Junior Herding Dog title. With very minimal training he earned all 3 CD obedience titles (AKC, UKC, ASCA) and is currently competing in rally, earning his AKC Rally Novice, Rally Advanced, and Rally Excellent titles with no NQs, as well as his APDT Rally RL1 and RL2 titles with no NQs and multiple placements. He is also my back-up assistance dog (an on-the-job knee injury has been deemed permanent). A big "thank you" to his breeders, Kathi Seaman and Betsy Keating, for this wonderful boy who can do it all.
At the 2002 UKC Belgian Shepherd National Specialty, Dillon placed
1st
in Level 4 Working Sweepstakes, 3rd in Novice C obedience, passed the
Simple
Character Test (SCT - he did not tug with the tester long enough to
earn the Full Character Test), and earned his first two Agility 2 legs
and first
Agility 1 leg. He finished those titles the following month, qualifying
in 7 of his 8 UKC agility runs, with 3 perfect scores and multiple
placements,
including a First.
Despite all his titles and achievements, Dillon has been neutered
because he is noise shy, is insecure when in close proximity with
strange dogs (such as cramped crating areas at shows, Open out of sight
obedience stays, etc), does not
bounce back immediately after a negative experience, and does not have
the drive and intensity to work under all circumstances (heat, rain,
pressure, etc.) that I believe a dog should have in order to remain in
a breeding program. Nevertheless he always tries his best for me, even
under circumstances that cause him stress, and
has been a wonderful introduction to agility and herding, and I can't
imagine life without him, and hope to be his partner for many more
years to come.
