New Ramp
Addition

On the flat bottom of the 4' halfpipe, I decided I wanted a small
transition bank to try new things on. Its 12 foot long with a big
12x4 foot platform, and a transition based on 11 foot circle (If it
went 11 feet in air, it would reach vert). 2 feet high. VERY
MELLOW
Indeed. With such a mellow transition, it made the
ramp extend longer into the yard, so I also decided to curve bank to
the corners into the ramp. No coping on the bowl corners.
Maybe a later project on that. Click any picture to enlarge.
04/11/04. Easter. Had a
good skate session for hours today. Finally got the other corner
bowled in. Much more fun. Took HOURS AND HOURS to do this.
Ran out of skatelite, so had to use scrap skatelite for just a small
bit. Went bigger than original plans. They wanted $170 just
to cut and ship 1 single piece of 4x8 skatelite ups, so I decided to
use scrap. Works great, glad I did now.

11/15/03. One corner is now complete. Wish I
would have gone higher, but the vines in the way. On the other
corner, I think I will take the bowl corner higher, and more
round. I just did not have the space for this corner.
What a time consuming task cutting skatelite for the corner so it
fit!! Template first out of cheap stuff, then cut skatelite from
the template.

11.09.03 Well, when I hit the coping going
backside, I have so much speed, I wound up in the bushes twice, so I
decided I need to bowl it out higher connecting to the old
halfpipe. Damn, now I will have to do the other corner
also.

11/08/03. Saturday pictures. Framed up one of
the corners extensions to make higher. A lot of work! I should have
gone higher to start with, it would have been SOOOOO much
simpler. Instead, it is like rebuilding the entire corner all
over! Each one of the 13 joist supports had to be double compound
miter cut at both ends, and the transition cut out on each one. WHAT A
TIME CONSUMING TASK!. Also had to go at different angles on each
one because the 2 ramps the bowl corner connects has different
transitions. Still more do do. Once I'm done, you
will be able to grind off the end of the coping straight into the bowl
corner, or ride the bowl corner directly into a grind on the coping.

Sunday 11/02/03. First day to skate it. No skatelite yet. It will
take 3-4 weeks to have shipped from Tacoma, WA. Ramp is really
fun to learn new tricks then take them to the bigger ramps. It is
so mellow and small, makes learning new stuff fun as hell. Just go for
it and force the trick to work. Thats just cheap-o waferboard
stuff I put on it temporarily to match up with the existing skatelite
to make it smoother to ride.
