Advice from Previous ENGL 289 Students |
For the last question on the final exam last time I taught this class, I asked the students completing the course to give you some advice--what should you do to succeed in this class. Here's what a few of your colleagues recommended.
- Don't procrastinate on research--it saves a lot of time.
- When taking any English class make sure to read all material assigned ahead of time in case there is something you question. Also try your best to start on the research of a paper when it is assigned; this will give you some time to research thoroughly and ask questions if needed. Dr. Hammond is a very good professor in that she makes the students comfortable and welcomes them into her office for help or with questions all the time.
- Do all of your reading on time, and try to finish your essays early because Dr. Hammond will be more than willing to help you with your papers. Last, try not to lay out of class because you'll get behind!
- Really keep up with the reading assignments. Although the poems and essays may be long, it's much easier when we discuss them in class and you don't have to spend four hours reading them all before the test--all you have to do is review.
- Class discussions make the class interesting and the material easy to learn.
